Funny Accountants Raise $10,000 for Junior Achievement

Accountants One’s 2008 Search for the South’s Funniest Accountant, held November 6th at the CW Midtown’s Center Stage Theatre, was a huge success! This year’s event exceeded expectations by raising $10,000. Corporate sponsors included PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Reznick Group and Career Builder. Proceeds from the evening went to Junior Achievement of Georgia (www.georgia.ja.org). Junior Achievement brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential by bridging the business and education communities.

“This year’s event was better than we could have imagined,” said Vice President of Accountants One, Dan Erling. “Junior Achievement is an outstanding organization so supporting their work is always important to us. As far as the comedians go, this might have been the most talented group we’ve seen.”

Brian King showed how funny accountants can be. He was crowned the winner and took home an all-expenses paid trip for two to Las Vegas, staying at the luxorious Bellagio Hotel. In his day job, Brian is the manager of Corporate Accounting at Cox Enterprises.

Over 550 fans of funny accountants attended this combination fundraiser/stereotype debunker. There were nine contestants competing for the prize. First and second runners-up of the night were Gilbert Lawand from Ernst and Young and Jim Riley of GWL Construction .
